A very common question I get is... "How often should I wash my hair?" And there are many myths about how often you should be washing your hair. Less is not always better. But the answer is really different for every person depending on your hair type and lifestyle.
Some factors to consider:
1) How thick is your hair?
Thinner/finer hair usually shows greasiness faster while thicker hair can usually hide oils for longer.
2) How long is your hair?
Shorter hair will sometimes look dirty faster. Long hair can sometimes absorb more of your natural oils making it look and feel cleaner longer.
3) Is your hair color treated?
Colored and highlighted hair usually does better when washed less frequently. washing too often can also cause color to fade faster.
4) How active is your lifestyle?
If you are highly active every day and sweating a lot, more frequent washes might be necessary. if you are mostly sedentary, washing less often is fine.
Bonus Pro Tips:
Brush your hair with a boar bristle brush at night to distribute natural oils through the ends.
After a workout, rinse your hair with warm water and condition, but skip the shampoo.
If you use dry shampoo, make sure to wash your hair that night or the next morning to avoid product build up.
Use a clarifying shampoo 1-2x per month and a deep conditioning mask once a week
